2014 - 2015 school year is going great!
February came and went with more cold! Hopefully, we'll see a warm up in March. You know what they say - March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Let's hope so! Third and Sixth grade students will be starting the 100 Word Challenge in March; visit our blog to see their writing.
January came in with a major cold blast! We will be adding those cold days to the end of the school year. We are completing ACCESS this month, as well as participating in more Mystery Skypes! See our new page for details :)
Book club will begin on February 3 - we will start with The One and Only Ivan. We'll be blogging with our friends in the Southeast School Book Club!
December was full of fun at Northeast School! We started reading The One and Only Ivan and blogging with our friends about it. We're still practicing our communication skills with Skype, and working on our typing skills.
On September 15, we celebrated International Dot Day! We read the book, created dots of our own, and put them all together in a giant dot. This project displays our diversity and our collaboration to create a mosaic of learning!
During October and November, we will be participating in The Global Read Aloud. We will be sharing our learning with other classrooms in the U.S. and around the world! In the picture at left, we are Skyping with our friends in Pennsylvania. We are extremely excited about this endeavor.

2014 - 2015 school yearHomework Help is up and running! Please watch the calendar carefully, as this year's schedule will be slightly different from previous years. We are on Twitter! Find us! @mrsgarnersclass. We would love to have you follow us, we will not follow you back because we are only following other classrooms. We are also blogging! Visit our blog and comment on your student's writing. Students are writing about their learning experiences on Garner's Groovy Gals and Guys. Please remember: ALL comments and posts are submitted to Mrs.Garner for approval before they are published. Your child's safety is a top priority here at Northeast. |
2nd Grade will be working on comprehension skills and various spelling patterns in addition to academic vocabulary. If you'd like to see this week's spelling, feel free to head over to Spelling City. Directions for finding the list are on the "Resources/Links" page.
3rd Grade will also be studying comprehension skills and academic vocabulary. The spelling patterns studied in 3rd grade are a bit more difficult than 2nd! Be sure to watch your child's backpack! 6th Grade Reading students continue to develop their comprehension skills using a combination of the Treasures series and Treasure Chest series. In sixth grade, students choose the books and stories to read. We will be working with a combination of fiction and nonfiction this year. Click to set custom HTML
